i am thinking about two types of walls for something i am building. one uses the new thermal clay brick as a load bearing wall: can be seen here.
Hollow clay bricks for load bearing wall - THERMAL CLAY - CERAMICA-MAZARRON - Load-bearing wall: clay brick (http://www.archiexpo.com/prod/ceramica-mazarron/hollow-clay-brick-for-load-bearing-walls-59507-142700.html)
the wall will have a 10cm brick with stone facing as the real outer wall, with a layer, say 3cm., of Styrofoam in between.
or, my new idea is to sandwich a massive amount of Styrofoam, say 12cm, between two layers of the 10cm brick. The load would be borne in this case by pillars and beams.
the R values of this much styrofoam is huge. i was looking at this web page:
Styrofoam in heat insulation (http://www.v-s-d.ru/en/Heatinsulation.htm)
looking for comments. thanks.
