Ok, I was never good at math and I'm guessing that plays some part in this.

The short and skinny of it.

I bought a motor specifically designed to motorize an outside umbrella because my better cant reach it when its mounted. She's getting pissed because I've got the umbrella opened in the garden room and I still haven't figured out what to do.

Here are the instructions.

http://www.smarthome.com/manuals/31423.pdf

I've been beating myself in the head for the last hour trying to figure out what the heck they are talking about.

I have a TYPE C umbrella and I understand up to step 6 but after that I'm lost.

First problem, step 7 I have no idea which of the strings after its cut is defined as the "motor rope". Which one is that? The one coming out of the top or the one connected to the ring?

Then step 9 and 10 make NO sense to me at all. Any help on that would be appreciated.

Like what end of the string do I make the loop in and how does tying them together make any sense at all? And how can I drop the string to the mark where its lowered and where would you mark the string?!?!?
