Hi! Hope someone can tell me for sure. . . I have an antique full sized bed which I wish to convert to use with a queen mattress. I have found several websites that offer full to queen conversion bed rails, but they ALL have TWO hooks which would slide into TWO pins. My bed has only the mortise slot with one pin, and the original rails of course had only one hook each. My question is--do they sell something for my type of head/footboard? I am told this type of construction is more Canadian, but all Internet searches for such have not proven fruitful. If not, do you think it would be stable enough if I remove one (cut off with a band saw or some other method) of the hooks off of the other conversion frames that comes with two hooks?
Additionally, the mortise slot is 7 inches from top to bottom, so I can't really change to a bolted frame without having the mattress sit way too high or low; also I would be afraid to drill holes to either side as the wood is older and could be dry--afraid it could split even though it is good, solid oak.
Ideas will be welcomed! Thanks in advance!
