My Whirlpool Gas Water Heater pilot will not stay lit. This model Heater has a view port where the pilot is. The area is closed off. You can light it with a match. There is a red reset button and ignitor switch that you use to light it. It is an electric lighting system. I get the flame to light. But it will not stay on. Any help someone can offer would be great.

Somewhere there should be a thermocouple, the end of which extends into the pilot flame. This is a safety feature so that gas is cut off if the pilot is extinguished.
