Hello,

Not sure this is the right forum, but I will give it a shot here.

We curently have a staircase that is boxed in by drywall rails. we want to replace it in part by a decorative iron railing on one side and leave a small section on the other side with no rail at all. The staircase intersects a wall a wall on that side at about a height of 3-4 leaving a drop off of that height on the side with no railing. Is this going to break standard building code?

Thanks,

--David

I know what you are trying to do, but pictures of your situation surely would help. Could you post a couple of pix on a site such as photobucket.com and copy/paste the HTML code to a reply post. That way we could see what you see.
