I just got a Campbell-Hausfeld twin tank air compressor given to me.

I'd like to put it on a two wheeled push cart and use it for airing up tires.

There are some general questions I have.

First, the air from the compressor is HOT! Probably 150-200 degrees. Is this normal for those units?

Do these things have a pressure switch to turn the air compressor off at some pre-set tank pressure? Looks like a small, plastic caged switch. Maybe that's a pressure switch.

Will the pressure switch normally turn the air compressor off before it gets hot enough to harm itself?

Yes, compressed air gets hot...especially if you go from a completely empty tank to a full one. Never burned a buddy's arm or leg with one of those small bicycle pumps?

Yes, there should be a pressure switch that turns the unit off at the upper setpoint..125psi for many older units..150psi for newer ones. Then it should turn on again as pressure bleeds off.

If this is an oil-less compressor, I think they tend to run a little warmer than oiled units.
Check and see, running an oiled unit dry will destroy it very quickly.

If you put it on a cart, make sure it is in the correct operating position. If operated tilted on its side and its an oiled unit, that could destroy it as well.

If I want to know whether I have an oil filled compressor or one not oil filled----what do I look for????

This is kind of a vibrating thing.... and it doesn't seem to be big at all for what kind of air comes out.

There would be a plug or dipstick somewhere on the actual compressor (not the motor or tank). If you post a model number it's pretty easy to check.
