I have the type of bathroom sink stopper that sits in the drain and you push with your thumb to close. It is stuck in the down position. How can I relaese it?

You'll have to disassemble the drain from underneath to unjam the assembly.

If this is one of those new style drains that are spring loaded, The spring is most likely collapsed and needs replacing.

If not, then you'll need to clean the assembly well in order to get it back into working order.
