Patching and Plastering - New drywall to old plaster

Had a leaking shower so had to tear out a plaster wall to fix it. Is there anything special I need to do to the joints and corners where the drywall butts up to the old plaster?

I prefer setting compound to drying compound.

It doesn't hurt to tape the joints if it can be done without any build up showing. I also use a setting compound [like durabond] when repairing plaster. It is probably the best substitute for plaster for those of us that aren't skilled in plaster work.

Setting compounds don't sand well so it's best to apply the final coat neatly. If you use regular joint compound, you must use tape and it shouldn't be applied too thick or it will crack.

Actually, I found sanding easier with setting compound but I use a wet sponge instead most of the time.
