The cost of pouring a separate footer and slab is high, (Two pumps. trips etc) so I am looking at pouring a monolithic turn down slab with footer just enough to support a simple shed roof that can cover 20 X 20 patio. I am NOT building a two story, just a simple roof for a screened porch.

My questions are: 1) What should be the size of the footer of the monolithic slab? 2) Any disadvantages of a monolithic slab? (Crack etc)
