I'm a newbie. Just bought a house that is 5 years old. Laminated wood floors upstairs and downstairs are sqeaking a many places. One section popped up.
Is there an easy fix that I can do by myself? Can I drive some finishing nails down into the squeaking sections?

Most Laminate floors are intended to float, so nailing then in place will only cause you problems later that you will not necessarily be happy about. The squeaking is likely caused by the underlayment or more likely the lack of it. Generally the only way to repair a popped section is to dissassemble the floor at least to the point where it popped and re-install it. At least thats what I would do. My guess is there is no cushion backing or underlayment and the the squeaking is caused by the back of the flooring rubbing against the sub floor. No way to know for sure until you have a peek.

OK Thanks. I'm surprised a good builder like Village Builder would have their laminated wood floor sqeaked after 4 years after installation. The house is just like new except for sqeaking floors.
One more question, is there a way to pop up a section or a piece without damaging the piece itself? I will take a peek and hopefully could do-it-myself by installing some kind of cushion.
