I would like to know the best way to level a mid-grade sloped backyard. The size of the backyard is about 30' X 50'. Anyone have any recommendations?

Are you talking one or two inches or one or two feet? There are various methods of measuring "level", like a water level or laser level. Whatever you use, you can place stakes aroung the yard and mark them to know how much soil needs to be added or taken away.

And don't forget..many times sloped yards are for a reason. Where is the runoff going to? If you change the grade of your yard and it impacts the neighbors, you could be responsible.

ITGuy, some good questions for you to consider from the other posters. You may need to terrace the lot so you have two or more level areas.

My backyard and the neighbors backyard is actually one whole slope. I would be raising the lower level of the slope up about 2 to 3 feet if possible to even out pretty much with the top. We need some usable backyard space.

ITGuy, it sounds like you need an on-site consultation. Without pictures it's impossible to say how to do this, and even then it might be difficult to say how to proceed. If you change the grade of the land you could cause flooding to yourself or the neighbors.
