Hi: Could not find a category that included air compressors, so here goes. Have a new small air compressor. Purchased a reel with 50 feet of 3/8 hose. Question: The lead hose has a male thread and the reel has a female thread. I cannot figure out how to connect the lead hose to the reel. The lead hose male thread is not a swivel type, I would have to rotate the lead hose to make the connection which seems ridiculous. How can I adapt the lead hose to make it a quick disconnect with respect to the hose reel?

Thanks, -------------- mmorfe

This post was moved from the non-interactive category topic "Safety Awareness and Product Alerts" into this forum topic. The post is a question. Not a product alert or safety awareness issue. Therefore, it did not suit that topics requirements. An air compressor is a power machine. Which suites this forum topic specifically and not the prior forum.

Welcome to the forums!

I'd install a female disconnect to the compressor and a male disconnect to the hose. You will also want a female quick disconnect on the other end of your hose and male disconnect fittings on all your air tools.

So, are you putting a hose on the reel?

If so you can get a swivel coupling adapter which will have a fixed male end and a female end that turns.
You might find though that spinning the whole hose to attach it will take less bulk than using the adapter.
On some reels they will cause the hose to interfere with the wound wraps.
Swivel is nice but the hose will be on that reel hopefully for many years.......not like you regularly take it off.

What Greg said, these adapters are common. Or, just get yourself a UNION fitting in the npt size needed. Also available in the plumbing section of your local HD.
