I am capping my concrete stoop with brick. The footing is set and I have a quick question about a way I am considering making my stoop a bit wider as I lay the brick.
The current stoop is 65 inches wide. Even though I will gain about 4 inches on each side due to the width of the brick, Id like to make it even wider.
Can I build the side walls around the stoop, staying 4 inches away from it on the sides (in the front, the risors still will)?
This would leave a 4 inch space between the brick and the current stoop. Then , when that dries, fill the 4 inch space by pouring mortar down it?
Is it ok to do it that way or, when making it wider, must I use two courses of bricks?
