Installing contractor wants to install TXV at air handler. My question is when the unit goes into heat mode does the TXV open all the way and allow refrigerant to flow (backwards)because the bulb is very warm and calling for the valve to open?

(Warm evap = not enough freon, so txv gives more)

Installing contractor or repair job? Most HP TXV's these days are set up for two way flow with a bypass feature for heating mode.

Replacing heatpump and airhandler.
And now I'm wondering what works as TXV/orifice for the outside unit when in heat mode?

In all of your newer equipment, heat pumps have two TXV's - one indoor and one outdoor. You will find older or mis - matched systems that have a piston/orifice at the indoor unit, either way there will be two metering devices.

Is the TDR that comes with most Aspen coils really a TXV? If not, what's the difference?
