Bricks, Masonry, Asphalt and Concrete - Concrete patio too hot !

I recently poured a 12 x 20 concrete patio with a brush finish in Central Florida. I guess I should have realized that it would get to hot to stand on barefoot, but I didn't. Is there anything that can be applied to the concrete so that you can stand on the surface without burning your feet? If anyone has any suggestions please let me know ASAP with details as to how it should be done. Thanks.....buzcar

How about artificial turf from home depot? I wouldn't put anything in a bucket on it. That's for sure.

Pulpo....I assume by "anything in a bucket" you mean paint or stain. If my assumption is correct, why wouldn't you put it on the concrete surface?

Right now you have a maintenance free surface. Once you, paint or seal it, it's no longer maintenance free & every few years, it has to me redone. Not only that, the concrete needs to breathe.
If you use artificial turf, you can remove it, store it & use it again next summer if you don't want to leave it there all year. You could do the same with some type of indoor outdoor carpet. Think of all the work you save.

There were several posts..prob from last summer... about people who had this issue around their pools.

Some stated they had tried cheaper coatings and weren't happy, but a few stated they had good results with professional heat reflective products.

Ahh my brain kicked in..you might want to Google "Kool Deck" or "Desert Deck". Of course check reviews and complaints..maybe someone here has some experience with them.

The concrete surface around my screen enclosed pool is painted with Behre Porch and Deck paint and is quite acceptable both maintenance-wise and temperature-wise. I also have a 3' x 6' pad outside the pool screen door that is finished the same as the pool deck. However, because it is not within the screen enclosure and has direct sun exposure it is noticably hotter than the pool deck. I don't think mainenance of a painted deck will be a problem if I can find a paint or stain that doesn't get too hot in direct Florida sunshine. Do you know of any paint, stain or other process that I can use to reduce the temperature of the concrete surface? I really don't want to use artificial grass or indoor/outdoor carpeting.

I don't know of any paint or other product that is going to reduce the temperature of concrete in the Florida sun. That's a tall order. Gunguy mentioned two products but I never used them. Can you estimate how big of a temperature reduction is needed, 5 degrees, 10 degrees?
