Can anyone tell me what type of wall looks identical to drywall with the exception that this wall has black spots throughout as well as black hairs occasionally.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

My guess is horse hair reinforcerd plaster.

Can you put up a picture?
How large are the black spots?
Are the black spots evenly spaced?

Do you or did previous owners have a dog?

How old is the house?

Where are you?

How thick is the material the wall is made of?If it's more than 5/8 inch it's likely plaster.

Is there anything behind the wall material like wood slats or steel mesh?
