i hired a contractor to put up a wood fence in the backyard. he told me that it is a treated wood and the post are 6 by 6.
Upon completion i saw that some of the post has cracks about a foot long and a centimeter deep, some were in the center of the post and some were on top. should i be concerned or is
this normal.
your help is appreciated , i dont know anything about this stuff.

Normal with treated wood as it dries. When it's completely dried out and you put the preservative on, try to work it into the splits as much as possible.

6x6 posts..wow..those are bigger than normal.

Those cracks are more commonly referred to as wood checks. This is normal and for the most part their being there does not take away from the integrity of the strength of the fence.

With use of 6x 6 posts you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

There are many quality coatings...somewhat depends on the look you want. Just natural or cedar look, redwood solid finish, etc, etc.

Go to a good paint store or full service hardware store, explain what you'd like, they will be able to help.

I've heard good things about most Cabot products, but there are others.
