I've just stripped my son's bathroom of pink roses wallpaper and awful tan vinyl floor. I've repainted the walls blue and put down ceramic tile. I'm getting ready to put a new vanity and toilet in very soon. However, i need to install baseboards at some point as well. Can I install the vanity and then put the baseboards down? That would save from putting down baseboards that won't be seen behind the vanity, right?

Do I have to have baseboards behind the vanity?

Baseboards aren't used behind cabinets. Install the vanity and the base before you install the commode.

that's what i needed to know!

Should i paint the baseboards before i put them down or after? Should I butt the baseboard next to the vanity or should it be a mitered (angled) cut?

Butt the base up to the cabinet. It's your call whether or not to prepaint. If you prime and apply 1 coat of enamel prior to installation it might save you some time. It will need a final coat of enamel after installation, caulking and puttying nail holes.
