hello,
i have a york a/c split unit model F2FP030N06B
this is the diagnosis so far:
outside radiator running fine outside
by switching fan to auto/on I can hear the click, means the relay should be ok.
board is getting its 240v
the transformer is humming normally
the transformer shows 27v output (on the 24v output)
5A fuse on the board is working
the blower fan will rotate by hand, it's not stuck
the connector to the fan has been moved to high, med and low and the fan still doesn't start
the capacitor seems normal, no signs of leak, burn or smell but have not measured...what value ohm/volt should be at the capacitor poles?
water has been removed and drained from the bottom of the unit
pipe has been blown via air compressor and water flows ok
cooling unit gets cold
did not replace thermostat yet, I currently have an analog (came w/the house) and will be replacing tomorrow morning with digital.
thanks---in advance---for all your help.
any suggestions?

so the unit comes on but the outdoor fan does not spin. when you give it a spin by hand does it start or not.

thanks for your reply
the outside fan works, is the inside blower, the one just above the coils, that doesn't move.
does this answer your question?

so the technician came...it was the capacitor...129 for the part and 80 for the labor...209 dollars.
online the same capacitor (10uF) 370VAC is sold at 10$.

$209 compared to say $15 -20 (including any tax, running around, or shipping charges.) Ouch. Too bad you did not give the responders to the thread enough time to diagnose this for you, before you had the tech come out. Hopefully, if you have a future problem, we can get the problem diagnosed and save you some money.

Jeez..I'd be calling the boss. I'm sorry, some markup is one thing..but $129 for a cap? Thats pretty much legal robbery.
I understand paying for someone's knowlege and training....but I think 100% markup should cover gas and maintenance.

i would have allowed more time but in Central FL air conditioning this time of the year is a necessity, not a luxury, my gf was driving me insane
the price is actually standard for several components listed in the receipt...at least the tech did not just give me a quote...among all the components that could go wrong and they can replace there's the cap listed for the same price as 3lb of freon, etc.
too bad i couldn't find a way to safely measure the capacitor, even because it didn't look or smelled as if it was busted...i don't even think lowe's or home dep have a replacement...i would have had to check an hvac store.
i gave the tech the same diagnosis i wrote in my first post...he said to me "you did it all"...
now i am trying to replace my mercury thermostat (old!) with a new digital one...i can't believe wiring can be so different from one model to another...
is it worth to pay 69.95 every two months for hvac tune-up?

$70 every 2 months? Jeez, get away from that company.
No Pro...but I imagine what they'd do for that, you could probably do youself. I've seen some folks recommend a complete check up once every year or 2..including cleaning indoor and outdoor coils, checking temps and pressures, etc. They won't do that for $70.
Have that done, change your filters religously.

my bad...on the previous post...the fee is actually 70$ for every 6 months.
what i am afraid, when they do these checkups is to tweak your machine just a little so that it will need repairs later on (job security) what do you guys think?

The presumption then being that they would be outright crooks if they did that.
Around my neck of the woods, I think we have for the most part, square shooters. But you do indeed hear of people that are only out for the almighty dollar and will try anything to get it.
