Any one out there please give an idea on how to regrout the existing floor tiles. My grout is breaking and coming out from many places. I do not want to spend big bucks on calling some one to do it for me. Thanks for all the suggestions.

They have grout saws, sold in the flooring department of a big box store. It's not easy, and will take awhile. No miracle solution for this.

Hopefully you do not have an underlying problem which is causing the grout to be needing replacing.

Thanks for the reply.Do I have to remove all the grout or I can regrout it on top of the old one removing wherever it is loose and flaky. Probably the person who grouted it did a bad job. Thanks for the input.

You have to go down at least 3/4's of the joint or else it will just start to break out again.

AFAIK there are no grout removal tools for rent. There are grout saws (hand powered), and Dremel has an attachment for their tool...but those are for pretty narrow joints.

There may be some sort of attachment for a grinder..but you'd need a pretty steady hand I imagine.

A manual grout saw will cut it if you use some elbow grease. It will take a cut by each tile edge, one on each side of the grout line, and the middle will give way pretty easily. No need to tent, they cost less than ten bucks.

Before you regrout, you need to find out why the grout cracked. Cracked grout is most often caused by vertical floor movement. If you remove the grout and regrout without fixing the problem, you may have cracked grout again in a very short period of time.
