I just replaced my hardwood flooring and now I feel I should also replace the 1" x 6" baseboard trim around the floor. How do I cut those 45 degree miters? I have a 10" miter saw (not a slider) and a 12" table saw that will cut angles.

Lay the molding flat on the table, flip the head to 45 degrees and cut it. Now, if it is only 4" base, you can do it standing up and just spin the head to 45 degrees. You will have a difficult time doing 7" speedbase on a 10" saw (or a 12" for that matter) as the molding will hit the motor.

Lay the baseboard flat on the mitre saw. Tilt the blade 45 deg. and cut. Hold the stock firmly while cutting. It will have a tendency to "crawl" as you make the cut. Good luck with your project.

Sorry, Larry. I did not mean to walk on your reply. I see we had the same idea. Have a great day.

Thanks to both of you guys for the input. I will try that and make sure I clamp the wood down before I cut. Thanks again.

Good point, Ken, on the creeping. Do use a clamp if you feel it will move on you.
