I would like suggestions for how to install a wheel on a two part wood fence gate that drags hard on the ground. The gate opens like shutters, outward, and closes with only a 1 inch gap. I thought of putting in posts and hanging the gate with steel cord, but that would be unsightly. It's so heavy that it has bent the super heavy duty hinges, and pulled the other fence post toward itself.

The wheel attaches to a metal bracket which is bolted to the gate. The bracket resembles half of an inverted "Y" and can be made from angle iron or square tubing.
Another method is to cut a slot in the bottom plank and add the wheel in the slot on a metal axle. Additional framing around the slot is necessary. Hope these help. Good luck with your project.
