I'd like to find out if the audible tone can be programmed from the system so the keypads dont all "beep" - i have a brinks system (possibly ademco?) and the info on the motherboard is as follows:

Zettler az826-2c-12dme

the bar code reads: Ffff0016495f

I tried to open the new keypad because brinks is so anal-retentive that it doesnt put any identifying info on the outside of the keypad. The pad is "tamper proof" and though I could probably open it I'd like to not by breaking it. If I could find out what the model number of the keypad is then maybe I could find out whether this feature is programmable.

The brinks install techs said that the only way to disable the "beeping" is to open the unit and remove the piezo which would pretty much make the choice permanent. Though 1 tech thought it could be programmmed out or back in he wasnt sure how and deferred to his manager.

Since the techs disabled the units leaving just 1 in 3 beeping my wife doesnt like the way its set up and now wants 2 to beep. So I spoke with the manager and he said he would check. He still hasnt gotten back to me and knowing the secretive nature of this business I know he'll probably wind up telling me that the keypads cant be programmed. Only because his techs already disabled the units physically. Its the cost effective thing for him to do, which is to lie to his customer. Though I will probably get a different keypad it would be nice to know if it can be programmed so that it can either beep or not beep.

Can these keypads be programmed to beep or not to beep (that is the question) ?

Can the keypads be opened to identify which ones they are since the indentifying info is not on the outside of the keypad?

Brinks is proprietary; all of them. There is nothing you can do with this hardware as a DIY project, other than replace it.

Any configuration changes beyond user lever has to be done by Brinks.

In general, I don't _think_ that the keypad sounder can be disabled on Brinks keypads without cutting the sounder connections. They err on the side of caution.
