My dog goes to the balcony to take care of business. I hose it down about once a day, but wanted to use a cheap non toxic solution to clean the floor with. I have been using warm water with a bit of soap in it.

ANY IDEAS FOR A CHEAPER LESS CHEMICAL SOLUTION??

What could be cheaper than soap and water if its effective? Maybe I'm missing something....

A good old and yet tried solution is,
mostly water and some vinegar. You can use some baking Soda for stain removal and scrubbing.

If you are doing this every day, get a large container of white vinegar and add a cup to a 4-5 litter bucket of water. It is mild disinfectant and spraying baking soda on the surface could help with scrubbing and germ killing. Both are safe for human and animals.

humer has a good idea...vinegar will provide some santizing properties....if the cost of this is too much...may be better to take the dog out...i do not think your going to get any cheaper than the suggestions here or even your current method

Soap is cheap enough, but I don't want my dog licking up the soapy water.

The vinegar idea is GREAT, so I will try that.

I am also going to build a planter for the little guy so he has some grass.
