Understanding that there are many variables, just how much difference in savings should I expect to see with the different ratings? For example, would one expect to see 10% difference in cost to run a 14 SEER and a 15 SEER, or how much between 14 SEER and 16 SEER? Cars have EPA mileage estimates, how do I interpret the SEER ratings?

Well, I'll let the Pro's answer the main question on savings..but the Tax rebates normally apply only to the higher rated systems...Pretty sure the 14's don't cut it anymore. Thats a big concern right there. Pay $500-700 extra, but get $1500 off the taxes at the end of the year...
