Hello
My service tech put a pressure guage on my 27 year old ac and it began to leak onto my filter in the celler. It soaked it.
We could see frost on a copper tube. He recharged it as he has the old freon and said if it leaks he has a guage to find the leak and depending on where it is he could fix it.
I think we have a 2 1/2 ton unit.
I am having both he and a man from Home Depot coming out to give us #'s.
I have not had a chance to run it because it is so cold here in Maryland right now.
I am 70 years old and don't know how long I will be here.
Any advice in sort of simple terms because sometimes there are so many variables I don't know what I am comparing things to?
Thank you
P.S. I read other posts but just got more confused.

If you don't know how long you will be in the house it usually doesn't pay to install a new system. Be sure to get a quote to fix what you have so you can compare that to a new install.
And be sure to get many quotes when considering a new system.

Hello
Yes, we agree with your thinking.
Right now the tech came back and put freon in then RE tightened the fittings. I have run the ac without a leak and we have cold air. There was no charge as I told him not to put this old system under pressure in the first place.
Fingers crossed and thank you.
