How do I figure out how many tiles I need to do my floor.I know there is a calculation on doing it but im not sure what it is.Instead of starting a new post I will ask it here. Can you tile over a river rock porch

Measure the floor in two directions, multiply the numbers. That is your square footage. Each box of tile will indicate the square footage covered by that box. Buy enough to cover your floor plus 10% waste (you will break some). How smooth is the river rock porch? Is it level? If it isn't perfectly smooth across the span, your tile won't lay flat.

Capital "N", little "o". But post a couple of pictures on a site such as photobucket.com and copy/paste the HTML code to you reply post. We may have an alternative for you to work with. You may be able to apply a backer to the porch or float the floor, then the tile, but we will wait on your pix.
