We have a Trane/American Standard TDE100A945A1 built in 94
Evap is TXC042C4HPB1
Condenser is Trane XE1000 TTR042C100A2
Evap is bad (leaking) and we're trying to decide to a) just juice it up another year, 2) repair or D) replace the entire unit.
I'm trying to find some specs on the current unit for comparison, but can't locate anything online with these numbers. BTU's, CFM air handling, cooling capacity, etc.
any help is appreciated.

With the tax rebates available it makes sense to replace the unit. It is difficult to get Trane specs as the company has been sold off so many times and they are not very friendly to DIYers. You should be able to figure out what you have from the labels. Also if you open the main panel on the air handler you usually will find the manuals hidden in there.

You have a 3.5 ton system! But that means nothing. Your HVAC company should do a heat load on the home to make sure that is the correct size unit for your home.
