Hi,
Does anyone have any advice on removing radiological contaminants from a private well?
My well exceeds the MCL for combined radium 226 and 228 as well as gross alpha and gross beta. I also have 3000 pCi/L of radon gas in my water.

Other numbers that I know is that my hardness level is 10 grains per gallon. TDS level is 330 and ph is 7.4.

I've learned that softening the water and/or reverse osmosis removes radium. And that radon gas can be removed from water with a GAC unit.

I've had a kinetico guy to my house and he offered me the option of 2 softeners -- the Power Line 1040 Softener for $1700 or the 2030 Softener for $2200.

To clean up the water further, he offered me the option of 2 RO units -- A200 RO drinking water system for $900 or the K5 RO drinking water system for $1200.

Lastly, for radon, the kinetico guy suggested a GAC Filter for $1200. It is an upflow declorinator, although for radon they put it in downflow position and it has 2.0 cu ft of carbon.

I am a bit overwhelmed with the prices and the amount of equipment I seem to need. Any advice from anyone whose had a similar problem with radiological contaminants in their water would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Jennifer
