Ok, now there is like this gold thing inside my key hole to my office. When the key goes in, it lifts up to open the door. So now when i stick my key in the gold thing lifts up but the key only goes half way in and i am unable to open my door. Please can thier be a way to fix this with out a REPLACEMENT DOORKNOB. Try some lubrication in the lock. The most common type is powdered graphite. There are also specific lock lubricants like LockEase.
Stay away from general lubricants like WD-40.Those have effects that aren't that helpful in the long term.
Is this in an office building?Does a building manager etc have a master key?
If either of the answers is yes other than lubrication, you will want to talk to them before doing anything else.Commercial locks are often designed differently than residential and if it's a building it would have to be matched to the rest of the locks.
