murray riding mower, not mine but helping someone with theirs.
battery is good, with seat ( deadman ) switch pushed and clutch in and ignition switch turn to start position it will do nothing but if i jump the solenoid terminals it fires up and runs fine by itself.
he replaced the solenoid and ignition switch on the dash but the problem is still there.
what can be wrong ?

Check the small wire at the solenoid for current with the switch in start position.

Could just be a blown fuse...you'll find it in a fuseholder inline on the red thin wire coming off the solenoid positive cable.
