I need to replace the windows in my basement and they are not standard size. The opening in the concrete is 26x16. The standard window is 32" wide. I can get custom windows but they are 4 times the cost of standard windows. I was thinking maybe going with glass block, but would prefer not to. Any ideas?? Thanks,

Either build a frame on the inside against the concrete or remove 3 inches of concrete on each side, just deep enough to recess the window flush with the wall. Use a masonry blade on a circle saw to cut a straight line, then a chisel or chipping gun. Caulk it.

You won't be able to use only glass block, as the window must be left as a means of egress. I agree with Pulpo, in enlarging the hole. Just make sure you don't exceed your header lintel plate size.

I have the door to go upstairs and a bulkhead,so I have two ways out. I am not worried about the egress. The foundation is about a foot deep. I don't think it would be too easy to cut. Would it cause any strucural problems if I cut about 6 inches out?

It won't cause any structural problems & it probably easier to cut that you think. Try one. If it's too much, stop. You only have to cut 3 inches wide by 2 inches deep on each side of the windows. It will smoke a lot but just use some safety glasses & a mask.
