craftsman riding mower model #917271053 wont start i have changed the ing. switch, solenoid, fuse still wont turn over without crossing the solenoid even then no fire

If the starter spins when you jump around the solenoid, but you have no spark. And the starter won't spin off the ignition key, you may have a problem in the ignition switch or the wiring going to the solenoid.

thanks if that is the case can anyone tell me how to maybe wire up a pushbutton or toggle start. im no kind of electrician

Sounds like a safety switch problem to me.

Make sure the lever for the blades is all the way down.
Engage the parking brake.

If it cranks like this then your seat switch is likely at fault...if not

I would look at the switch for the blades...the one the lever activates when in the down position.

You should use an ohm meter to check the switches.

thanks for all your help come to find out it was the ampmeter burnt out. bypassed it and now it works fine. thanks again

Glad you got it. A bad ammeter won't keep it from firing, so there may be other problems...but if it's working, it's working.
