Hi all,

I would appreciate anybody’s help with the following window question;

Pella Proline and Andersen 200 series are essentially very comparable window series cost-wise and performance wise, correct? Does Marvin also have a series of windows that are very comparable price and performance-wise to the Prolines and 200 series windows?

Thanks!

Can't provide a comparison, but can comment on the 200's. I audited a brand new home where the high end owner and was disappointed with the 200's installed at the insistence of the contractor. The home owner's concerns were well founded as the windows, in my professional opinion, performed poorly. Since this is a professional opinion, I'm being polite. Northern climate, 70 plus degree home and ice on all windows. The Infrared Camera indicated significant air leakage and that was after Anderson came out and installed their "excuse me" kits. They offered no other consideration. I can't speak for the other brands as I do very few newer homes.

Marvin is a high end manufacturer, they don't have anything that competes with builders quality doors/windows, which is what the Proline and 200 are. I personally don't like Pella, their service is terrible, and the product is also.

If you are replacing existing windows consider vinyl replacement windows that fit into the existing window frames, but don't look in big box stores. For new construction, go with the 400 series windows. They are more expensive, but the will save more over their life, and last longer.
