My question is...

Do I take out the tub? Does the drywall have to go all the way to the floor? There may not be room to take this out and that would be a very large job. Can I just cement board and tile to the top of the existing tub?

What type of adhesion do I use between the redgaurd and the tile...what's best?

What is it you are trying to do?

Your tub should have a flange around it, and then have your cementboard/drywall installed 1/4" off the tub deck.

You will apply your redgard, then install the tile using a powdered thinset, like Versabond, Flexbond, or one of Lowes Mapei thinsets. Do not use anything that comes in a bucket.

Thanks,

That is what I needed to know as I did not want to get into it and find out it was going to be something that could not be accomplished. The tub is way to large to remove.
