I have a Trane xl14i that I just started using the AC with when it got into the 90's this past weekend. Yesterday morning, while the unit was not running, I heard a relatively loud buzzing sound that continues today. The unit still runs and produces cool air, but when it shuts off the buzzing sound persists. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? Thanks for your help.

Buzzing inside or outside? If outside could be switchover valve. Put in heat mode and see if it goes away. Maybe switching back will fix it. If inside air handler and have the variable speed type fan maybe it is running slow when off indicating problems with motor driver. If inside coud be power transformer decided to buzz. Take cover off and tighten screws that hold it together. Sometimes a whack with hammer will stop if that is it. Good luck.

Ronny, sometimes you do need a bigger hammer!

kkrausey, when the unit is in cooling the coil on the reversing valve is energized 24/7.

Ther is either a screw or nut that holds the coil in place. Over time it can get loose and cause a buzz.

Kill Power to the unit, open the access panel and tighten the screw or nut. Problem should go away.

If not a bit of foam insulation tape around the coil should muffle the buzz to a fuzz.
