I just purchased a foreclosed home and will be in it tomorrow as long as my Mortgage Co doesn't drop the ball again. The house needs some interior work which i should be able to get taken care of this upcoming weekend. There is tile and carpet throughout the house and as it stands I really don't care for the carpet or tile but it will have to stay for now till more funding becomes available.

All of the bedrooms need patchwork done due to holes being punched in the walls or doorknobs going through them. The carpet is a blue color I am not fond of and the rooms with the holes in the walls have some serious paint color issues. I guess blue was the previous family's favorite color cause its everywhere. I am try to use a paint that will give the rooms a nice look and still blend with the bluish carpet for now till it gets changed down the road. A lot of tan was used in the upstairs hallway and it looks ok but again some holes need patched and I would prefer to just change up the whole color scheme instead of trying to match colors.

For some reason the kitchen was painted a red color (has to go as well) as well as the downstairs wall and staircase was painted blue. Any ideas on a color that will work well with the blue carpet? New ceiling fans will be going in and most likely be a brownish color, the couches and chairs I have for the living room are a cream color and in the big open room I have nothing yet. Mostly like be a pool table with a couch or two and possibly a bar set-up. The family room where the fire place is isn't to bad (except blue wall) but I would like to change it up and make the entertainment area stand out more. Maybe use a color to match it with the fireplace a little? Pics are below and any and all ideas are greatly welcomed!!!

Hi fox_forma,

Nice house! ;)

The first consideration is the general decoration style and furniture type, style and colors. Blue walls / carpets fit well with posmodern decoration but they are a very bad choice with classic furniture

Anyway, in order to keep the work in a budget, you should go with earth colors and effects. The earth colors will blend the blue, gray and white

In the image below, I used a paint color from the Sherwin Williams brown catalogue. Some suggestions for the living room and bedrooms
- SW 6073 Perfect Geige
- SW 6099 Sand Dollar
- SW 6106 Klim Beige

As focal points, you can use some faux effects (you will find these effects at you local HD or Lowes)
In the image below, I used faux creme clear for the window wall.
I think that this will be a good choice also for the kitchen

For the column, I'd use a mixed effect, including some blue. In the image, I used two different Lustertone effects, but of course, you should use the same effect for both sides
