Following the instructions in the manual, I am unable to re-set time and date. User code + #63 brings up time/date, but when I hit *, which should bring up a cursor under the time, the panel goes back to "Disarmed...ready to arm." In fact, hitting ANY key brings up that message. ADT says they cannot figure it out, and before I spend $145 to have a tech spend two minutes sorting this out, I thought I would check here. The inside of the panel door says 'K5950 ADT V1 M6973 1 REV A." Elsewhere it says "ADT Safewatch Pro Custom." Any suggestions appreciated!

That is all _keypad_ and generic ADT logo info. Which specific system do you have (safewatch 2000? safewatch 3000?) The answer will vary by model.

I wish I cold say with certainty which system I have. As I mentioned above, the panel says "Safewatch Pro Custom." The manual we received when the system was installed says "Safewatch Pro 3000EN. Entrepreneur 3000EN, Security Manager 3000EN." I'll be darned if I can figure it out.

It's a Safewatch 3000 (a modified Vista 20p). The diagram on the inside of the system enclosure door is normally the dead giveaway.

That's the correct command set. The fact that you are getting as far as the command prompt means that you are entering it right. It sounds like you have a 6160 keypad.

The only thing I can suggest is a complete power down and restart. Disconnect both AC power and the backup battery; ( and no, no system data will be lost) then power it back up and try setting the time.

It's a low grade computer, sometimes they get stuck in a loop.

That's an interesting solution...and it's just what got me into this small mess. I was replacing a CO sensor and inadvertently let a couple of wires cross. Of course, I forgot to have the system put in test, and when all hell broke loose, I was unable to silence anything...until they told me to do a complete power down. Since then all has been fine except the date/time. But it is certainly worth a try. Thanks very much for the guidance, and I'll let you know how it pans out.
