When I finished my basement some time ago, I installed the drywall so that the bottom of the boards were always ~1" above the slab. I know that if the drywall comes in contact with water, the drywall will wick water up the board. I wanted to avoid that in the event I ever had a small water mishap.

Well, I had my small water mishap and the water level never got close to the bottom of the drywall (that's the good news). But I just realized that my kraft-faced fiberglass insulation goes all the way to the floor. I checked and some of the paper got at least a little wet. Should I be concerned with mold growing on that paper?

Thanks,
Guy

Yes paper will grow mold. Take the base off and dry with fans and a dehumidifier. If you can dry in less than 24 hours you will be fine.

I spent many a yeas as a G.C. tearing out the same thing you have there. They way you insulated is left over from the old days of insulating basements. On a side note if insul gets 5% of moisture in it it looses 95% of its insul qualities. Explains damp basements that are finished. This is how it should have been done..
