Hello
I have sheet linoleum/vinyl in a the kitchen.
Due to age, $, health, we cannot afford to have the job done so is peel n' stick an option?
We cannot remove the vinyl so is thre something we can maybe roll on the floor to prepare it for the peel ' stick to adhere to?
I rolled paint primer on a concrete floor then used a bit of silicone caulk to help it stick and it lasted well.
But sheet vinyl is a lot different.
Thank for your help.

You'd be surprized at how easy doing better/newer sheet products can be. You have to measure carefully, but you will probably spend less time on your knees doing sheet than doing peel and stick.
Not much experience at it, but I think even the cheaper stock sheet stuff is better than peel and stick.
I don't know whether it can be installed directly over existing, I think the pattern will "print" through.
The Pro's will be around later. Some details on size of the kitchen and amount of "detail" around cabinets and such might be helpful.

Hello
The kitchen is 5' wide and 15' long.
Two cabinets run 10' down the sides for 10' then it opens to 7' for the remainder; it is a galley kitch.
Removing the old is not an option as we can't do it.
Thank you

Hello
I have been doing some investigating and I read that you can use Adex with the proper trowel to install non stick vinyl tiles.
This seems like a compromise between sheet vinyl and peel n' stick.
I there any preparation to do on the existing sheet vinyl floor before the Ardex? Are the non stick tiles more expensive than the peel n' stick?
Thank you

I used peel n stick in my bathroom and my kitchen. It worked great. In my bathroom I was worried b/c I laid it over existing 18x18 peel n stick. It was ugly black n white so when I renovated the bathroom I put new down. It worked great and its still down.
Peel n stick is pretty cheap and to me I would think it would be cheaper than the rolled vinyl, but I never got prices on that when I did the peel n stick. I remember seeing a price of
.69 cents per tile. That is pretty cheap. Say you need 105 sq. ft (15'x7' rough size of your kitchen, will be less b/c you have cabinets) at .69 the total is 80 bucks!! I would recommend and armstrong product but if $$ is tight, then go cheaper. You can get armstrong for about .89 to 1.00 a piece.
When I installed them, I put a dab of liquid nails on each corner and one in the center for extra strength. I didn't use the glue stuff you have to trowel down. Figured that would just be one big mess for me. And these things really stick!! I had to tear one up in the kitchen b/c of a knife stabbing and it took me more time to get the tile out than it did to lay a new one. That is another perc to installing these. If you damage one you replace it.
Good luck and hope this helps!

Hello
That liquid nails idea sounds good - I did the same with some dabs of caulk in another house but liquid nails is better. I am going to find out if there is a preparation for sheet vinyl before I do the peel n' stick.
Thank you

I did get a price on this stuff, it was like sheet vinyl but it was made of a fiberglass material or something. It would have been terribly hard to do this in my kitchen. You don't need any glue or anything w/ this stuff. Just had to make sure that the floor was level. The molding is what held it down. Good Luck and keep us posted!
