I have had a DSC 832 for eleven years. During the last few months we get a trouble light indicating a phone line problem. The phone line will be dead until I clear the alarm then it works fine. If you are on the phone when this happens, you get disconnected. I recently switched from a cable modem to DSL which may be related to this. All phone jacks have filters. I also recently upgraded my DISH system to the 722DVR which is also connected to the phone line with filters. What can be causing the phone trouble with the alarm system?

If you have made no physical changes to the phone line wiring, then you need the filter made specifically for the alarm panel connection. Many older alarm controls don't play nicely with DSL tones.
