I'd like to paint my daughter's crib white from the honey color that it is right now. I visited the website for the company where the crib was purchased and it says that the solid head board and foot board is made of a mar-proof laminate. (At least the rungs aren't!) Is there any way to prep this before painting it? Also, would spray paint be best for this? I'd like it to look as nice as possible. I am completely clueless about this and I could really use some advise. Thanks!

Spraying looks best. Here is how to paint the laminate:
1. Clean the surface with an ammonia-based cleaner or spic-n-span. Make sure all the grease, grit, and grime are removed.
2. Prime the surface with a good primer such as XIM400, Preprite, Zinsser BIN or 1-2-3.
3. Apply two finish coats of top-quality finish gloss or matte.
4. Apply two or more coats of polyurethane. Water-based won't yellow and affect your finish color.
Allow adequate drying time. Follow manufacturer's directions.
Hope this helps.
