I live in an apartment and several years ago I removed the plate covering an unused telephone jack and installed a regular usable jack. I made a few mistakes connecting the wires, but eventually got it right and led 20 feet of telephone wire to where I want the phone and it worked. Unfortunately, two other jacks stopped working (the kitchen jack still works in addition to the new jack). I was thinking of calling the phone company, but does anyone have any ideas? I want to use both broken jacks now. I currently have two telephones and I want to add a third plus move a current phone to a broken jack.

The box behind the working jack probably has some disconnected wires that continue on to feed the bad jacks. Connect all of the same-color wires to each other (and to those on the working jack) and you should be good to go.
