Electronic Alarms and Home Security Devices - DSC power 632 PC1555 issue post storm- zone 1 not working

Had a thunderstorm which affected certain appliances. DCS power 632 pc1555 was affected- zone 1 does not light up on key pad and door sensor does not work- there is no chime when opened.
Any suggests for diagnosing and fixing? Thanks

Close lightning strikes can fuse the contacts on door and window contacts. Try giving the switch half of the contact a sharp rap or two with the handle of a screwdriver. About half the time, it will free the stuck contact.

You will still need to replace the switch, this is a fix that usually doesn't last.

Just shop for "door/window" contacts and buy the ones that are the same size as the ones you have.

If they are the press-fit style, be sure to get the ones with the screw terminals. Trying to get the wires for the ones with leads back into the hole is a bit of an art form.

Thanks for replying and providing your insight. In researching my problem, I see that you have been responding since at least 2000. Thanks for continuing to help us that need expertise to attempt do-it-yourself projects.

the switches were replaced but the doors still do not chime in zone 1 which has 2 different doors- however, zone 1 now lights up when either is open. The third door which had the switch replaced lights up and chimes when opened on zone 3.

Does something else need to be done to make zone 1 chime again?

Chime is normally a global function, and if chime is on, any door or window set as an entry/exit or perimeter zone will chime. If the zone is showing open, then it should chime, if it did before.

If you have the LCD5501 keypad, it does have the ability to be set for individual zone chime settings.

Do you have access to the programming to be able to check the zone settings?

No, not that I am aware of. I do know the installers code though.

If you have the installer code, you have access to programming.

Sometimes lighting strikes can write random junk to the eeprom that holds the system programming.

One basic thing to check, if this is an entry-exit zone, make sure that it actually does work with the normal delay. (Just in case that the actual zone type got changed)

First, if you don't have the installer manual plug the following phrase into your favorite search engine: "PC1555 installer manual"

Somewhere in the first 3-4 hits should be the manual for free.

Read the section titled "how to program" so that you understand the interface.

go to program with *8 [installer code]
Enter 101 if attribute 3 isn't on, turn it on by pressing 3.

Then press # until you exit programming.
