Insulation, Radiant and Vapor Barriers - Attic Air Turbulence - Whistling

Have a 1919 American Four-Square home with pyramid hip roof, including 3 dormers. No venting or insulation had been present until recently when we had the roof replaced. We accepted the advice of several roofing professionals to install soffit vents in all soffits, and air outlet box vents on three of the four sides of the roof near the top, plus ridge vents on the three dormers (three feet below the box vents). Now at certain air velocities we are getting air turbulence and whistling in the vented space. Any recommendations how to remedy the issue? Did we make a mistake in having two separate levels for air outlets?

Can you access the inside area where the box vents are and possibly cover them one at a time to see if they are causing the problem.

Not without removing drywall... the room has knee walls and a cathedral type ceiling. Have you heard of this problem before, Bud? Thanks for your help.

Never ran into a change that resulted in this type of noise. Estimate the area of soffit allowing air in and the area for air to escape. Ridge vent and soffit have ratings for sq. in. per foot. If the exit is much smaller than the entrance, then you could have a pressure increase and release when it exits. Note the direction of the wind. Did they use full perforated soffits or space them out with solid ones?

Did they use baffles to hold the insulation back from the insulation and baffles to protect the lower insulation from wind washing?
