I have seen posts here on how to remove (interior) metal door frames, but my concern is how to remove it without or minimally damaging the wooden floors. It seems to be embedded into the wooden floor.
Is there an easier way of removing it or do we have to take an electric hand saw to it? thanks for your replies

I cut them in half with a sawsall on both sides. Then I grab the lower half & move it in all directions, little by little. As I do that, I look to see how it's attached. Sometimes you can see the hooks or the screws. You'll be able to do it without killing the floor. Just don't be shy with it.

Cutting them is one way (probably best), but be careful of the fastening tab that is either nailed or screwed to your framing about 2 or 3 inches off the floor. It will be behind your sheetrock, so you may have to do some surgery before they will release. Better to fix sheetrock than wooden floor. However I question what you will do to "fix" the hole left by the door frame.

Many years setting hollow metal frames.
basic frames
1. KDF knock down frame. 3 pcs 4 screws holds the header to the jambs after you set a jamb and the slip header into tab slots. These can be but frames or drywall wrap around frames. The wrap around frames has metal tabs at the bottom to screw to drywall studs and is hidden behind base trim. The other frames set on concrete is set and then 22 calb shot to concrete deck. masonry frames are tied in with T anchors or spring anchors.
