When hanging a roman shade do you still leave your mini blinds up or does the shade let down for privacy particularly at night and you can pull it up through the day.

You can do either, depending on what you're buying.. You can do an outside mount with the roman and leave the mini blinds up if you prefer, or you can replace the mini blinds with the romans and raise and lower them instead. This is assuming you're buying a working roman, which raises and lowers. Places like Walmart and Kmart, sell romans that have to be adjusted manually, and it would be easier to leave the mini's up.
