Hello, I am located in Australia and have an ITI Commander 2000 alarm panel which has worked perfectly for the last 8 or so years with two wireless PIR detectors, a smoke detector and a wireless keypad.
I have recently purchased an ITI Micro Door/Window Sensor Part no. 60-688-95, and am having difficulty programming the sensor to the panel. I am beginning to think that the panel is not compatible with this sensor. I have been following the steps in the installation manual. I will explain the steps that I have followed.
After entering the programming mode I press STATUS, select group 10 (which is where the PIR detectors are) and then enter the sensor number 04. The panel then announces Sensor 04. After this I try to trip the sensor within 4 minutes.
To trip the sensor I took of the plastic cover, slid the battery half-way out of the holder (as it says in the Installation Instructions for the sensor). My understanding is that the panel should then detect the sensor and announce "Sensor 04 Okay" to indicate that the sensor has been programmed into the panel. The problem is the panel says nothing and eventually says "Invalid try again", presumably because the 4 minutes is up.
In order to trip the sensor I have tried a number of things during the 4 minute period including a) leaving the battery half-way out for the entire 4 minute period, b) putting the battery half-way out for 30 seconds or so then putting it fully back into the holder and putting the cover back on and c) putting the magnet near the sensor. Nothing has worked. I have also tried replacing the battery.
Am I doing something wrong or is this sensor incompatible. My understanding was that this sensor should work with all ITI learn mode panels.
Thank you

The Commander 2000 uses an older reciever technology. I don't think that that transmitter is compatible with it.
The GE Guy would know for sure...

I knew as soon as I read that thread I was in trouble! It "should" work with Commander...All sensors (with the exception of one particular smoke and the encrypted keyfob) should work with any panel from the Caretaker + on...
Let me do some digging and I'll try and find out if there's something goofy going on. Are you next to the panel when you are trying to learn it in? If not, you may be out of range...Due to it's size, it's range isn't as far as the other devices.

Just checked...that sensor IS compatible with the Commander 2000. Something else is going on...

That's why I was hoping you would chime in. I haven't put my hands on a working Commander 2000 in about 5 years.

I could be wrong, but I think I've worked out what the problem is.
According to the the US GeSecurity website the senor operates at 319Mhz. This seems to be the frequency that all, I think, GE sensors work at in the US.
I located a brochure on my Commander 2000 panel from the distributor in Australia. It says the panel uses 433Mhz for transmission signals. The commander 2000 panel in the US operates at 319Mhz which is probably why you thought the sensor was compatible with my panel.
It seems that outside North America, ITI sensors, and panels for that matter, which operate at 433 have "EUR" at the end of their part no.
Thanks for you help.
