1. When putting on self adhesive refacing material on a cabinet butted up against a wall, do you align the material against the wall and overlap the interior edge of the stile?

2. To avoid stain and laquer smells in the house, can the self adhesive material be stained and laquered before application to the cabinets?

1. depends on the thickness of the material. If we are talking about a real wood laminate, maybe. If it is prone to split when bent, no.
2. Probably not, usually too brittle to take handling. But you can use water based finishing products to reduce or eliminate odors.
