I would like some opinions/options on sealing some 8x8 treated posts on my roof top deck. We are having some leakage issues with water entering the cracks in the posts and draining into the lower floor. I have been looking at using a ELASTOMERIC paint after I fill the crack with some sort of caulk.

Thanks for any info !

Doesn't sound like it was installed correctly, but here is an idea: get some roof cement and masking tape and mask around where the wood meets the roof out a couple inches all around the 8x8 on the roof. ALso mask a nice level boot up high enough on the 8x8 to get above the cracks. Brush or trowel on the roof cement to the tape on the roof and up to your tape on the 8x8, and then pull the tape off. You should have a neat, nicely sealed situation that will keep the water out.

I am going to redo the flashing and notch the posts and insert chimney flashing around each post. Then roof cement them as you described, will post the finished product and hope for the best ! Thanks.
